When I started this blog I was hoping that it would open up more opportunities for traveling and while that hasn’t happened yet, travel is still tied up in a lot of my goals. The Sir and I recently had a short but serious conversation about travelling to at least one new international location every year for the next 5 years. After that point we could be starting a family and things could get a little too hectic to continue on that path. I have a feeling at that point we’ll probably be more comfortable with domestic travel (at least for a little while).
This conversation got me really excited and pinning wildly on my Wanderlust board on Pinterest and bouncing ideas around until I came up with the Top 5 International Travel Destinations that we hope to explore!
1. Costa Rica
First of all, this lovely country has been at the top of my list for a long time! I’m hoping that we’ll be on our way to Costa Rica in 2018, and possibly going with some friends! Costa Rica feels like the ultimate “adventure” location. This gets me super excited because I want to kayak, snorkel, hike some waterfalls, zipline and see lots of wildlife. Maybe we’ll spend a relaxing day at the beach but I’m looking forward to an action packed time and getting a taste of the “pura vida” lifestyle.
Fun fact: did you know that Costa Rica contains 5% of the world’s biodiversity?
What I’m most looking forward to: Thai food, elephant sanctuaries, temples, street markets and some absolutely freaking gorgeous beaches! Visit Instagram to see what I’m talking about: thailandluxe, tielandtothaland, lostinthailand
My awesome college roommate did her study abroad program in Spain and after spending a semester stalking all of her Facebook photos, I’ve had a desire to go there. For real though, I’m going for the food. And then after eating so much that I no longer fit in my bikini, we might check out the Mediterranean coastline.
4. The Maldives
To be 100% honest my whole goal for this trip will be to lie on a beach and get pampered (with maybe some time for scuba diving). For me the Maldives is alllllllll about beaches. So, until I can get there I’ll be listing to this Beachin’ playlist at my cubicle.
Another European country on the list! We could probably combine this one with the Spain trip or just go all out and do a European tour but each area of Italy is so incredibly different that I think I’d like to take a day or two in each of the cities I’d like to explore and devote the whole trip to just this country.
Top places I want to explore: Rome, Cinque Terre, Venice and also Naples
I want to hear from you! Have you been to these travel destinations? What did you love/dislike about it? What are some destinations currently on your own bucket list? Tell me in the comments below!
